When we think about the State of Nuevo León, its modern capital city, Monterrey, comes to our mind as the country’s financial center and one of the most prosperous cities in Latin America. However, we should keep in mind that Nuevo León is also a place full of parks and natural wonders. The Sierra Madre Oriental crosses the state and gives it an extensive topography full of mountains, rocky formations, slopes, canyons, and valleys.   • Cerro de la Silla. Symbol par excellence of Monterrey, its name means in English “Saddle Mountain”. In addition to its mighty presence, the site offers other outdoor activities like hiking and camping. Go ahead a hike to the top of this iconic geological formation and enjoy the most spectacular views of the city known as “The Sultaness of the North”. 
  • La Huasteca Eco-Park. Located in the outskirts of Monterrey, la Huasteca is one of the country’s best places for activities, such as wildlife observation, road and mountain cycling, hiking, and extreme sports like rappel and via Ferrata. 
  • Potrero Chico Canyon. Internationally renowned as one of the 10 best spots for rappel. Lovers of this sport arrive from all over the world to enjoy more than 500 routes for all levels, with rock walls of up to 900 meters high. 
  • Crystals Cave. On the top of Cerro de las Mitras, there is a cave full of crystal formations. You can make the journey into the cave equipped with a lantern, and discover stalactites, stalagmites, and other fascinating shapes created by nature throughout millions of years.
  • El Chipitín Waterfall. This extraordinary site is located in the city of Santiago and is perfect to spend a day surrounded by nature with the family. To get to the place, you will have to take a 4×4 vehicle, and you can also do it by horse. The site is ideal for swimming, diving, walking down the river, or just hanging out and enjoying nature.
