NERI OXMAN
One of the most influential personalities of our time
When we speak of innovation and bioarchitecture and fully sustainable developments, it is impossible not to our sight to Neri Oxman, one of the most emblematic figures of this trend and founder of the discipline known as “material ecology”.

Neri undoubtedly is one of the most intriguing figures of tour time. Neri owns a cinematic beauty and is one of the most brilliant and revolutionary minds in the field of architecture and design. She has a Ph.D. in computer design and is a permanent professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and leads a team that designs new production ways, which turn into structures with physical properties that blend to perfection with the environment, where textures, colors, conductivity, and even flavor and smell can be represented in a physical object to create multi-functional structures.
In the field of bioarchitecture, the proposal is to create new technologies capable of producing intelligent materials that can change their physical properties in the same way and complexity of the components of nature. This would make it possible to create, for instance, intelligent bricks to make buildings that generate less carbon and behave more like a living organism rather than an inert structure. That would make it possible to establish relationships between man-made structures and the environment in a way that resembles the processes of nature itself, which turn into a radical alignment between biological and artificial structures.
Neri Oxman is the author of more than 150 scientific papers and inventions. She has permanent exhibitions at the Smithsonian Museum of Design, the Moma, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Also, Neri Oxman has been named a cultural leader by the World Economic Forum and is an honorary member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
